When I started this blog in 2009, all my kids were teens and I had just discovered that two of my boys were using heroin. So much has happened since then and the story is contained in these posts
I started this site to voice my own struggles and, primarily, to let other parents of addicts know that they are not alone. There is a vast community of parents & siblings of addicts here on the blogs. If you’re new here, please reach out. Let me know how I can help and if you need assistance getting connected. It is both a blessing (we need community) and a curse (addiction is so common) that we are here together. Let’s keep our eyes on the blessing side as much as we can!
I don’t want my identity centered around being “the parent of an addict.” I am also a fundraiser, writer, musician, creative spirit, a Christian, and just one mom talking. Yet I will always be the mother of addicts as well. Please join me in this journey to healing and wholeness. God bless. ~Connie
Wow, really heartening to find your blog. I like that you don’t only characterize yourself as a “parent of an addict”. I am beginning to learn that holding on to your own personal identity is very important. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
Hi Grace, Thanks for your comment! Yes, it’s very important to know yourself beyond the role addiction plays in your life. Addiction is a part of your life, but your life is not addiction! Thanks so much for the follow. If you ever need to chat, I’m available at onemomtalking@gmail.com.
