“Hope” — a poem

I have a kinship with poet Emily Dickinson.  Here’s one of her pieces on HOPE.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –

by Emily Dickinson

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –

And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –

I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

My daughter -our addict- loves this poem. I am continually amazed at how throughout this journey that I could never have imagined and in the darkest corners of what my life has become–hope continues to rear it’s head. I am putting your blog on my blogroll. It really helps me to read about other parents’ experiences. Thanks!
